I'm amazed that you can't even ask questions. I young guy on Youtube posted his JC hearings for 'apostasy' and all he'd done was post some dissenting viewpoints online. Then they dragged in all these issues with his mother, and some thing he got spoken to years ago, and beat him with some scriptures and dfd him. Mad.
this youtube video put out by a once member of the jws, goes into concise detail the extraneous efforts the watchtower corporation intentionally goes into luring people into their organization to only exploit them as its own controlled and subservient sales representatives for their publishing empire.
its a bit long to watch in both parts, it might be a good idea to just not watch it but rather listen to the audio portion alone.
as the video plays along, how many points does this guy hit the nail on the head as to correctly identifying what is really happening and going on in this religious corporate hybrid organization ?.
He makes some good points but a lot of his information is anecdotal and has no evidence to back it up. He uses generalisations about how miserable we all are, which belies the fact that there are many who thrive in this environment and also those who are like birds in that it passes through them undigested like a seed without really affecting them.
While I can relate to the fatigue, psychological pressure and anti-educationalism, it certainly isn't true that all JWs are socially withdrawn in their places of work. Some only loosely follow the Wt. I found his talk informative but found him using some of the arguing techniques of the WT, minus the rhetorical questions of course.

This is more cracked than a dropped carton of eggs.
I has pained me these last few years to hear the money grubbing at assemblies and in Watchtowers, and when I heard about the credit card facilities at last year's DC I flipped in my seat. And now this.
And that pamphlet they send to old people about willing your estate to the WTS. And the WT yearly article on giving stocks! So they have stock market assets now?
This makes me sick. The churches in my local area aren't like this. Something's gone wrong really badly.

Part of what helped me wake up was pursuing my interest in totalitarian regimes, from the Warren Jeffs cult, to Stalinist USSR, North Korea, and of course George Orwell's 1984.
I also read a book about these South Korean Christians who risk their lives to help North Koreans escape poverty and tyranny, so how are JWs loving their neighbors more than that? How can JWs be the only ones showing love when there are these Korean protestants dying to save people they don't even know?
Now I'm using these stories with my husband, to get him to join the dots himself.

they have not stopped.
This Steve Unthank used to be in one of my neighbouring congregations. I never knew him, but I heard of him. I can't believe I live so nearby yet I hear none of this. No-one hears anything. The WTS issue gag orders or something? The cases in Victoria would make national news if it were happening in the Catholic or Anglican churches or any other, but why does WT news stagnate in a small area?
hey i have come to love some of the discussions on here and the information.
i am currently awake and have no plans to fade, in my case i am patient enough to in time become an elder to at least help the younger friends here in my area, in the sense of helping them wake up/if elder have their back..

Your reasons are your own bro, and for my part, I'm acting as sort of a mole myself. Not that I can have much influence as a sister, and the reason I'm moling is 1. because my husband is in, and 2. I like the weekly chin-wag.
But as you fade, if that's what you decide to do, people in your cong will start to overlook you and you won't get invited by others out on field service and that. Social gatherings too maybe. I find the people in my hall are so used to me in my seat I'm like part of the furniture really.
One thing I can recommend: develop a chronic condition. You're not a true JW unless you have a chronic condition or food intolerances! Gives you a good 'out'. Not that I'd recommend chronic fatigue syndrome normally: I can't hold down work at the moment because of it.

hi guys.
i'm interested in knowing whether any other faders out there ever find themselves feeling a little paranoid about establishing contact with other faders or former jws, just in case the unthinkable happens and things turn sour.. personally, i'm now fairly comfortable with the idea that i will be disfellowshipped or disassociated within the next year or so.
i see it as inevitable, and an essential transition in order to do what i want to do with my life.

You gave me great advice about fading in a recent email you sent to me in response to my worries posted on JWSurvey. I want to thank you for that, and also the people on this site who have so much more experience than me. My nature is quite outspoken, so it was good to get encouragement to keep quiet. I have the support of my unbelieving family, especially my father who saw right through the WTS from the get-go, and I would have just walked if not for my husband still being in.
Yet, he is a reasonable man. He listens to me. But I do have to be careful. I know now just to enjoy the good things about my congregation such as my friends, and fade slowly and quietly. Some experiences on here really echo how I feel.
Thanks Cedars, and keep up the good work! If you get ratted out, know that it has not been in vain. I owe you, brother.
today's watchtower made out that the combining of branch offices around the world is a loving provision from jehovah to streamline the production, but i had to ask an elder afterwards, even though i already knew the answer.... "if the wts is selling off bethels and brooklyn property and cutting the publishing costs and commitments, then where is all that money going?".
elder replies, "well the donations are just not coming in anymore and so they have to sell off property to stay afloat.".
gee, i thought if this was jehovah's approved organisation carrying vital truth to the world, then he'd be making sure the donations would be sufficient.
So then that begs the question, what are they doing with the money they save though?

Yeah I read that article. I find the congregations full of oldies which have no new ones coming in are a bit like that. The congregations I've been in have been more vibrant, with lots of ethnicities and children of all ages. Some people really are kool-aid drinkers though. I've been testing the water with a few.
